Are You OK with OK?

Are you OK with this is enough?  Are you OK with not learning anything new? Are you OK with not having a passion about something?  Are you OK with just going through the routines of life?  Are you OK with your grades?  Are you OK with your habits?  Are you OK with your SELF?  Are you OK with your sins? Are you OK with your career/job?  Are you OK with your marriage?  Are you OK with your kids? Are you OK with your relationships?  Are you OK with your intimacy with God?

ARE YOU OK WITH OK?

If you've settled thinking this is all I'm good for or good at, then you need to hear this.  There is more for you! There is more within you! There is more God gave you and wants to give you! He is a giver! Why settle for OK and mediocrity, when a God of excellence is the one we serve!

Ruth was OK with being considered a worker of Boaz by the end of chapter 2.  She wasn't expecting much more.  Imagine where she started and now where she is.  There was no identity in Moab to having an identity in Judah.  Having no god to having the one almighty God.  Having nothing to being given more than she deserved or needed because of grace! She was OK with where she was.  But, thank God for a Naomi in her life to show her there could be more.  You don't have to live the rest of your life worrying about me. You don't have to worry about being alone for the rest of your life.  You can be safe, secure, and provided for in the loving arms of Boaz ... Jesus!

That's your story! You think this is it, but there are "Naomi"s in your life that have, and are, and will tell you there could be more.  God has given you something, His grace to realize there is always more with Him.  He will protect, serve, provide, keep, and bless you in His arms.  Just believe not in the "Naomi"s but in the message God is speaking through those people in your life.

You need to have faith that the God that has brought you up to here, He is able and willing to lead you on! Dont' be OK with OK.  Go for excellence because God is excellent!

Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! - Psalms 150:2
O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth! - Psalms 8:9
How excellent is thy loving kindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. - Psalms 36:7
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. - Psalms 8:1

Was Asked These Questions

Back in 2008, I had to tackle these questions.  Here are my thoughts from then and amazing to see it becoming reality years later.  God is faithful!

What character traits and values do you regard most highly?
Integrity, initiative, and accountability are traits and values that I deem to be essential to a servant leader. A team player or leader has to walk worthy of their calling (integrity), exercise the faith they profess (initiative), and realize they play a vital part in the body of Christ (accountable).

Do you prefer working alone or as part of a team?
I prefer working in a team environment because in a team we can hear different perspectives on the same issue. I alone cannot think of everything but I need people around me to bring their ideas, suggestions, corrections, etc… to the table in order for the team to be successful.

Describe your ideal job description (if you had all the resources available to you and you could do anything that you wanted to do, what would that be?).
I would pastor a local church that is focused on impacting the lives in the local community. Bringing young people, children, parents, and families together through different mediums and empowering them in God’s strength is a passion for me. Leading a ministerial and administration team that is equipped with all the tools to do the work that advances the vision God has set on my heart and fulfills the mission God has placed on the church.

My Prayer For Years

1 Kings chapter 3 captures a conversation between God and Solomon ...

That night, there in Gibeon, God appeared to Solomon in a dream: God said, “What can I give you? Ask.” ... Here I am, set down in the middle of the people you’ve chosen, a great people—far too many to ever count. “Here’s what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well, discerning the difference between good and evil. For who on their own is capable of leading your glorious people?” God, the Master, was delighted with Solomon’s response. And God said to him, “Because you have asked for this and haven’t grasped after a long life, or riches, or the doom of your enemies, but you have asked for the ability to lead and govern well, I’ll give you what you’ve asked for—I’m giving you a wise and mature heart. (MSG)

This has been my prayer for years in anticipation, expectation, and preparation for where God is taking me.

I encourage you to pray for wisdom because with that you can handle all the areas of your life.  Ask and He will give is what the Bible says.

Twas the Night Before the Super Bowl

Twas the night before the Super Bowl ... 5 years ago today, God, the quarterback, decided to throw a beautiful touchdown pass in the clutch to the receivers, us, and we didn't get a Vince Lombardi trophy but a beautiful baby girl, and we got to name her Abigail and kiss her from then til now.

We celebrate her life with a heart of thankfulness to God, family, friends, and the church. There have been the challenges, scares, tears, laughs, parties, doctor visits, school trips, family days, and more to come.

It was just yesterday we were changing diapers and now we are filling out paperwork for her to start Kindergarten.  Time does fly. She's a big sister now and a very good, protective one at that.  She's smart, diplomatic, and funny! Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Our prayer is that her heart, mind, and life is set apart for God and His call.  Our prayer is that she is blessing to her family, friends, church, and community all for His glory!

Psalms 103:17But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children 18 of those who are faithful to his covenant,of those who obey his commandments! 19 The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything. 20 Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands. 21 Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will! 22 Praise the Lord, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom.
